…our skin’s not perfect
Skin, just like us is not perfect, although we all wish that we were born with that perfection – but that’s not the case, and so we get birthmarks and other pigmentation disorders.
Skin pigmentation marks are common through-out all skin types and colours. Generally it’s caused by either too much or too little melanin production.
Melanin is a natural pigment found in your skin – this is what causes those unevenly coloured spots.
Hyper-pigmentation is caused by an increase in melanin. Certain conditions, such as pregnancy or Addison’s disease (decreased function of the adrenal gland), may cause a greater production of melanin and hyper-pigmentation.
Melanin absorbs those harsh UV rays which cause freckles and can further darken already dis-coloured skin – this is why you should always use sun screen when out in the sun. Exposure to sunlight is one of the major cause of hyper-pigmentation..
Factors that cause pigmentation:
- Sun exposure.
- Pharmaceutical medicines (such as the birth control pill).
- Too much iron in your body.
- Skin infections.
- Skin reaction to chemical products.
…Melasma – the mask of pregnancy
An example of hyperpigmentation is melasma (also known as chloasma). This condition is characterised by tan or brown patches, most commonly on the face.
Melasma can occur in pregnant women and is often called the “mask of pregnancy”, however, men can also develop this condition.
Melasma frequently goes away after pregnancy. It can also be treated with certain prescription creams and by nourishing the skin with natural skin oils.
If you have melasma, try to limit your exposure to sunlight. Use a strong SPF at all times, and a wide-brimmed hat, because sunlight will worsen your condition.
Consult with your doctor before treating the condition yourself.
Her pigmentation marks and blemishes have faded, her wrinkles on her face, hands and arms have lessened and her pimples have completely disappeared She is so amazed with this product that she says she is going to buy another bottle as soon as her first one finishes.
I remember her saying to me in the beginning, when I gave her a sample “I am too old and wrinkled and all these marks on my body wont change now, do you think I should use this?” I replied it can’t do any harm, just try it even if you use it to nourish your skin.
Well! 2 weeks later and she is singing B.O.N Liquid Gold’s praises. You are never too old to change, miracles happen when you least expect it!”Caroline – South Afica
